In Retail locations, Pharmacy Managers cultivate a culture of excellence, modeling care and setting the standard for their pharmacy team. As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities.
You will support program awareness, onboard newly hired team members, and recognize colleagues for their success. The Pharmacy Manager demonstrates best practices, provides meaningful counseling, and ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
Direct and effective management of the pharmacy team, including but not limited to:
Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Overseeing the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coaching, and follow-up on performance
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Contributing to positive patient experiences through empathetic care and collaboration with the patient’s healthcare team
Delivering immunizations and supporting Technicians to learn immunization practices
Managing pharmacy inventory with focus on protecting cold chain products
Conducting onboarding for Technicians and Pharmacists and ensuring timely training and licensure
Ensuring operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalating issues as needed
Partnering with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and track required training
Overseeing Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists; delivering performance reviews
Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; managing pharmacy scheduling
Reviewing business reporting to improve workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
Establishing a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encouraging feedback and action
Maintaining clinical and technical skills; pursuing trainings and CMEs
Supporting access to care and improving outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible
Understanding and complying with applicable laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies; protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus:
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs
Ability to verify prescription information and label accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation:
Actively help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
Communication Skills:
Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Active listening to understand and respond appropriately
Mathematical Reasoning:
Compute quantities to dispense, days’ supply, and bottle counts
Problem Resolution:
Identify challenging interactions and choose appropriate actions
Physical Demands:
Mobility and prolonged standing
Lift, scan, and bag items; reach, twist, and stand for extended periods
Fine motor tasks and visual acuity for prescriptions and computer work
Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs and frequent lifting up to 10 lbs
Team Management and Leadership:
Lead by example, delegate tasks, foster collaboration
Motivate and supervise team to adhere to standards
Apply problem-solving and adapt to changing circumstances
Coach, give feedback, and address performance issues
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
3-5 years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service
Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs
Anticipated Weekly Hours 38
Time Type Full time
Pay Range $65.00 - $82.00
This range represents base pay. Actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors. Eligible for CVS Health bonus or incentive programs.
