All about General Merchandise: Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. The Role Of a General Merchandise Expert Can provide you with the following: knowledge of guest service fundamentals, experience supporting a guest-first culture, and experience in retail fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process improvement. Responsibilities
Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks. Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs and provide assistance as needed. Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target. Execute daily tasks to achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and posting promotional signs for GM areas. Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified. Process price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed. Learn operational procedures affecting inventory management, store profitability, and product availability. Know resources, products, and services available in the total store to resolve guest issues and improve their experience. Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards. Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, or delivering pickup orders) while adhering to applicable laws. Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within timeframes. Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Accurately handle cash register operations as needed. Climb ladders; lift/move merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance. Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); reliable attendance. Work in varying temperatures and conditions; may include Drive-Up and carryout duties. Remain mobile for duration of shift (shift length may vary).
