Correctional Food Service Officer I, II, III (Statewide) NOW ELIGIBLE FOR A $3,000 SIGN ON BONUS! To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act. Hires with a start date prior to July 1, 2025 are eligible for a $7,000 Sign On Bonus. All hires with a start date on July 1, 2025, or after are eligible for a $3,000 Sign On Bonus. Salary ranges per Classification: Correctional Food Service Officer I: $32,639 - $57,117; Officer II: $34,270 - $59,973; Officer III: $35,984 - $62,971. Responsibilities
Supervise offenders performing large-scale food production and food service operations at a correctional institution/facility. Oversee the food preparation and clean-up team within the food service department, prioritizing effective communication in verbal and written forms. Adhere to instructions, manage computer data accurately, properly maintain all food service equipment, and understand menu specifications. Ensure sanitary food handling practices, knowledge of nutritional values, and manage inventory levels of food and supplies, including timely ordering and rotation. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities / Management Preferences
Considerable knowledge of large-scale food production and food service activities in institutional and/or commercial environments. Qualifications
Correctional Food Service Officer I: High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Correctional Food Service Officer II: High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Food Service Officer III: High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operation, or as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Work Schedule
