Within a classroom setting, independently perform a variety of academic and non-academic instructional tasks in accordance with established guidelines and available resources. Provide paraprofessional support services to students with disabilities and assist teachers, both special education and general education, in the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions. May independently provide academic, social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities in a school and/or community setting to enable them to function as independently as possible. Adjust to student needs as required. Serve as a paraprofessional assistant in the delivery of counseling support services and activities for identified students. Participate as a member of the school support team and provide intervening activities prescribed by the school support team to reduce a student\'s specific academic, behavioral, or social needs. Basic Education Requirements
Applicants must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent AND one of the following minimum education requirements established under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: 48 semester credits from an accredited institution, with at least 3 credits in math and 3 credits in English. An Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree or higher from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 48 credits at the baccalaureate level. Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment provided by ETS. Experience Requirements
In addition to substitutions listed below, applicants must have experience as described. Note: one school year is defined as approximately 180 duty days or about 38 weeks per year. Educational Assistant I: General 0 years; Specialized 0 years Educational Assistant II: General 1 year; Specialized 0 years Educational Assistant III: General 1 year; Specialized 1 year General Experience: Direct interaction with people, ability to organize materials, maintain records, and write brief descriptions of occurrences or observations. Familiarity with basic educational programs and activities gained through involvement in school/community activities. Specialized Experience: Direct contact with students, including student management, familiarity with common educational and behavioral problems, use of instructional materials and equipment, and performing instructional or counseling tasks. Driver\'s License: Some positions require possession of a current, valid driver\'s license. Lift and Carry: Some positions require ability to lift up to 65 pounds and/or lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance. Allowed Substitutions of Education for Experience
Certificate of Completion in Child Services or related program may substitute for one-half year of General Experience. Coursework toward an Associate in Science in Teacher Aide/Educational Assistant/Early Childhood Education may substitute for General Experience (15 semester credits per half-year). Coursework toward an Associate in Science with practicum may substitute for General and/or Specialized Experience (15 semester credits per half-year). Associates degree with practicum substitution may substitute for all General and all Specialized Experience. Bachelor\'s degree coursework may substitute for General Experience if accompanied by demonstrated awareness of educational programs and activities. Bachelor\'s degree in Education or equivalent may substitute for all General and Specialized Experience. Professional Diploma in Education or equivalent may substitute for all General and Specialized Experience. Quality of Experience:
The required years of experience alone do not guarantee qualification. The overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Salary information is based on full-time employment and includes applicable shifts/differentials. Requirements
