Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3894) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture by providing outstanding guest service experiences and product knowledge. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests, respond to questions/concerns, inform guests of promotions, and promote loyalty programs. Support the shopping environment and current sales initiatives; promote guest relationships to drive sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper handling of transactions and receipts. Respond to in-person or phone guest inquiries; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop benefits (e.g., reservations program, trade-ins, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with training and guiding store associates; observe performance and provide feedback. Ensure onboarding and training completion for associates; reinforce knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics. Assist with scheduling, staffing, breaks, and ensuring exceptional guest service at all times. Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify compensation accuracy. Keep store areas clean and merchandised per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are functional. Fulfilling Omni-Channel orders daily; support inventory control and loss prevention. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; report concerns to the Store Manager. Support meeting/exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; perform administrative duties as required. Conduct store inventory counts, restock, and maintain organized stock presentation. Balance daily transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and manage cash/deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments; record discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and communicate findings to leadership. Handle defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly; label boxes and packing lists correctly. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files; ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of the Store Manager; adhere to all company policies and procedures. Adhere to opening/closing procedures and maintain compliance with ethics and conduct standards. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States; 18 years or older. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. Retail management experience preferred (6+ months); retail sales/guest service/management experience preferred (2+ years). Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills & Abilities
Strong people skills with an outgoing, welcoming personality. Genuine, individualized guest assistance; clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work independently and as part of a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance and safety; operate the POS system; basic math and alphabetizing. Complete paperwork properly and follow instructions; flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Problem-solver with the ability to handle pressure; reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone; physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand/move for long periods.
