Responsibilities
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences. Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, and maintain a clean, organized store to grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly, inform guests of special promotions, and promote GameStop benefits and programs. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations, training store associates, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts, and that associates are knowledgeable about policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics. Schedule store associates, supervise staffing levels, and ensure breaks and meals are accounted for; approve payroll and ensure proper payment for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and functioning equipment; ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Assist in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; perform inventory counts and restock as needed. Handle closeout paperwork, bank deposits, and cash management per guidelines. Verify shipments, conduct inventories, and record discrepancies; process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly. Maintain awareness of safety; report injuries per guidelines; keep store records/files organized. Adhere to company policies, including Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct; perform duties during openings and closings as required. Supervise and delegate tasks to staff in the absence of the Store Manager. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or accredited bachelor's degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and in a team, and meet performance expectations. Operate POS system; basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills. Flexibility to work a schedule including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Problem solving, reliability, and sound judgment; ability to work alone and stand/move for extended periods. Physical capability to bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 30 lbs, and other basic movements.
