$85,000 Responsibilities

The Florida State University College of Law, in conjunction with the Institute for Governance and Civics (IGC), seeks up to two Visiting Assistant Professors to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year. The College is located in downtown Tallahassee, across from the Florida Supreme Court and one block from the Florida Capitol. This VAP position provides an opportunity for scholars aiming for future tenure‑track appointments and is intended as a stepping stone for those coming from clerkships, fellowships, or legal practice. Subject areas of particular interest include First Amendment law, law and economics, administrative law, business law, criminal law, and legal history. Individuals with any scholarly and teaching interest will be considered. Expectations: A two‑year position, with a review after the first year. Each VAP is expected to produce at least one work of original scholarship with guidance from FSU Law faculty. Each visitor will teach one class in the second semester of the first year and a second course during the second year if renewed. Courses will be selected in coordination with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and subject to curricular approval by the Curriculum Committee. VAPs are welcome to attend all faculty activities, including workshops and conferences. Each VAP will have at least one opportunity to present a paper in the faculty workshop series and will be expected to engage in IGC programming. A supplementary research budget will cover travel to conferences and other academic expenses. Qualifications

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or a degree in the field of specialization. Candidates must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. Contact Information
