Teacher - Elementary Specialist (SEI Endorsement Required) [Long Term Substitute] (SY25-26)
Boston Public Schools is seeking an exceptional Elementary Specialist Teacher with an SEI endorsement for a long‑term substitute position. The role will begin as soon as possible and conclude on 12/18/2025. Substitutes are hired as per diem employees.
Reports to:
Principal/Head of School.
Responsibilities
Creative design and delivery of an interdisciplinary course of study that integrates reading, writing, and analytical skill development in alignment with state curricular frameworks.
Implementation of district learning goals and objectives using district-supported curriculum per the District Curriculum Universal Accommodation Plan.
Creation of a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that establishes positive behavioral expectations and structured routines to support all learners.
Administration of district mid‑year and end‑of‑year assessments in accordance with district guidelines.
Support for planning periods and homeroom teachers, providing additional content support to supplement lessons.
Qualifications – Required
Bachelor’s degree.
Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1‑6.
Compliance with all state and federal licensing and fully qualified standards of effective teaching as defined by Boston Public Schools.
Current US work authorization.
Qualifications – Preferred
Experience teaching in urban schools.
Degree in Education.
SEI endorsement or dual certification in ESL.
Fluency in one of Boston Public Schools’ official languages (Spanish, Creole, Haitian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali).
Certification in Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language at the appropriate grade level(s).
