Position Overview
Secretary 2 at Platt Technical High School, Milford, CT. Year‑round full‑time (40 hrs / wk) first shift, Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Supports the school principal and independently performs a full range of secretarial support functions. Responsibilities
Perform typing, proofreading, and editing of correspondence, reports, bills, drafts, and other documents. Design and maintain office filing systems, including confidential files, reference materials, and manuals. Compose complex letters and memoranda for supervisor signature and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. Compile information from multiple sources to prepare narrative and statistical reports. Serve as the first point of contact: greet visitors, answer phones, screen calls, provide policy guidance, and coordinate non‑routine matters. Screen incoming letters, memos, and reports to determine required action and make recommendations to supervisor. Arrange and coordinate meetings, including space, equipment, materials, minutes, and travel arrangements. Prepare expense accounts and assist in monitoring the office budget, including processing purchasing paperwork. Qualifications
General Experience
– 3 years above routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work. Special Experience
– 1 year as a Secretary 1 (or equivalent). Substitutions
– College training in secretarial sciences may substitute up to 2 years of experience (15 semester hours = 6 months). Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a school setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platforms. Front‑desk or office‑management experience. Strong initiative, problem‑solving, and streamlining office procedures. Experience generating reports from PowerSchool or other educational management systems. Benefits
