Job Description Texas State Technical College (TSTC) invites applications for the English - Adjunct Instructor (Online) role. The position is a Texas‑based, on‑campus faculty posting that delivers approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

Prepare and deliver high‑quality instruction and facilitate student learning across a range of learning styles.

Develop course syllabi, instructional plans, and organize daily classes using innovative teaching techniques.

Facilitate discussions, activities, and mentorship that engage students and support their growth.

Interpret and administer assessments, provide constructive feedback, and use assessment results to enhance instruction.

Integrate technology to enrich educational experiences.

Maintain accurate student records, uphold safety and security on campus, and attend required meetings.

Conduct student advisement, collaborate with Student Success to promote retention, and advance program recruitment and promotion.

Act as an ambassador for TSTC and consistently demonstrate the core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity, both internally and externally.

Contribute to team‑based service, maintain flexibility for evening, weekend, or summer assignments, and support departmental planning.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses

Meet with students at scheduled times to support learning and success.

Knowledge of collaborative software: Google Suite, Microsoft Office/365, Teams, and Zoom.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and online instruction pedagogy.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Team‑player who arrives on time for meetings, appointments, and training.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses

Experience with online instruction and competency-based education.

Experience with non‑traditional face‑to‑face teaching methods.

Experience with Canvas LMS, Simple Syllabus, and Workday.

Adaptability to new teaching and learning styles.

Three years of teaching experience in the discipline.

Education and Experience

Doctorate or master’s degree in English or a master’s with a concentration in English (minimum 18 graduate semester hours in English).
