Job Responsibilities The Student Support Services (SSS) Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to support the objectives, goals, and daily operations of the SSS program. Responsibilities include managing the program's front desk and central voicemail, directing and responding to general inquiries, and providing assistance to SSS staff and students as needed.
This position maintains the SSS program database, monitors program email and communications, and ensures the availability of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for program operations. The Administrative Assistant coordinates fiscal logistics for student events, including reserving venues, arranging transportation, processing purchase orders, and tracking receipts and expenditures.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining operational and part-time personnel budgets in Excel, reconciling and adjusting budget lines, and providing budget recommendations to the Director. The role also oversees the development of promotional materials and ensures that program technology, equipment, and software are functioning effectively to support participant services.
Through strong organization, attention to detail, and proactive communication, this position plays a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and success of the SSS program.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year experience; or an Associate's degree plus three (3) years' related work experience; or high school diploma plus five (5) years' related work experience. Must possess the ability to type at a corrected rate of 35-55 wpm and/or basic knowledge of computer operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year experience or an associate's degree and three (3) years' work experience related to the administrative/office management area of employment; prefer proficiency with budget/expense management using financial software such as Excel; ability to manage database system; applicant cover letter as evidence of written communication skills; candidates may be asked to demonstrate any minimum skills.
