As Electrical Project Engineer, you may have the opportunity to function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG) and perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design and protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to one of the following U.S. East Regional Power Offices: Ann Arbor, MI; Cary, NC (Raleigh); Atlanta, GA; Orlando, FL. The Team

Responsibilities

Function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG). Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Collaborate with the substation design team. Continues developing knowledge and may provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines. Independently apply knowledge and comply with the Black & Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks; may be responsible for ensuring compliance; provide related guidance and direction to others. Support continuous improvement and change management efforts. Prepare engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects; perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection; oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepare calculations following standard methods and principles; manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Delegates tasks to lower-level team members, reviews work, and may lead production teams or coordinate multiple disciplines. Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Identify client interests and drivers on high voltage substation projects; communicate these to the project team and develop approaches to address them. Support business development or pursuit activities as appropriate. Provide consultation and guidance as a technical specialist in a particular practice area; mentor others and contribute to knowledge management. May develop and apply advanced engineering concepts to unique problems. Assist with performance management processes, mentoring, recognition, and career development activities. May participate in resource management and strategy for engineering resources. May assist with resource management strategy and may have responsibility for engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records) in compliance with applicable laws. Preferred Qualifications

Substation QA/QC Reviews – Quality Assurance/Quality Checks Substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers Professional Engineer (PE) License Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office programs Work Environment
