Marea offers the opportunity to work with experienced Executive Chefs in a respectful and professional work environment that supports career development. Sous Chef Responsibilities Include: Preparing and executing the menu at the direction of Executive Chefs with the utmost quality, precision, and consistency. Mastering proficiency in various stations as assigned by Chefs, ensuring stations are cleaned, stocked, and ready for service while maintaining active communication with the team to ensure a smooth kitchen operation. Thriving in a high-intensity kitchen and maintaining the quality and consistency of dishes during busy services. Supporting other kitchen areas and assisting teammates as needed, including taking on responsibilities in pastry, pasta, or prep when required. Maintaining a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation during each shift, strictly adhering to Department of Health (DOH) guidelines. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Chefs. Sous Chef Requirements Include: A minimum of 2 years of relevant fine dining restaurant experience is required. Strong people management and leadership skills. Culinary and/or college degree recommended, with considerable working knowledge of relevant food preparation. Genuine passion for cooking, restaurant hospitality, and continuous learning. Highly organized, productive, and capable of meticulous work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Energetic, friendly personality with a strong willingness to work as part of a cohesive team and support colleagues, regardless of role. Willingness to take direction from Chefs, embrace change and innovation, and adapt to new systems, service steps, and health and cleaning procedures. Broad and flexible availability to work AM/PM shifts, prep, and production as needed. This is a seasonal position. Physical requirements include the ability to handle and carry trays, smallware, equipment, or other items up to 50 lbs, and to stand, walk up and down stairs, and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods.
