Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws allow; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Lead selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage with customers and patients by greeting them, assisting with products and services, resolving complaints, and responding to non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Develop strong customer relationships by anticipating needs and promoting services to improve the pharmacy experience. Assist pharmacist in patient care activities including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision; participate in healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Coordinate pharmacy daily workflows, delegate non-clinical tasks, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with policies, laws, and security safeguards. Prepare and file reports required by company and government agencies; manage annual inventory preparation. Drive new technology or process rollouts; ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment. Collaborate with the Pharmacy Manager on recordkeeping and security safeguards. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and ensure the elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met. Support asset protection efforts and diversion monitoring; report concerns that could compromise pharmacy security. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follow company policies and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, resolve customer issues, and participate in or conduct 3rd party audits. Assist and support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Manage Community Outreach Portal; coordinate and assign pharmacists to off-site immunization clinics and community events. Build and sustain relationships with retail partnerships. People & Performance Management
Lead technician performance management, including discipline and termination decisions. Apply constructive discipline policies and hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness. Foster team engagement and action planning to improve performance. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling; monitor timely training completion and adhere to company policies for scheduling and training. Identify gaps in operations knowledge and support team members with hands-on training or learning modules. Ensure licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant with regulatory requirements; use Walgreens resources to document licensure status. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by company policy and law. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification through designated program and/or state requirements. Update knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare. Obtain required certifications and training such as LTMP modules. Pursue professional development with performance feedback and mentorship. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
