Strategic Account Executive - Commercial Lines
Summary: The position leads the overall service, recommendations, and implementation of a book of insurance business. The job requires a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making based on industry knowledge and experience to provide professional guidance, expertise, and service to clients, professional and collaborative relationships with carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. Responsible for business development and sales with new and existing clients.

Responsibilities
Manages an assigned book of business comprised of key and high revenue-producing accounts with a significant impact on client operations and HUB.
Utilizes industry experience and knowledge of insurance markets, policy provisions, claim processes, business environment, and risk mitigation to make independent decisions on books of insurance, including non-routine coverage issues, denial of claims, renewal strategies for key accounts, and interpretation of non-routine provisions.
Acquires understanding of clients’ business and insurance objectives and analyzes insurance plans to determine suitability.
Counsels clients on appropriate coverage, assesses risks, and determines proper coverage to insure and mitigate risks.
Builds strong relationships with internal teams (producers, marketing, customer service, claims) and external trading partners.
Negotiates terms, conditions, and pricing directly with insurance carriers, in conjunction with the Marketing Team.
Evaluates special carrier programs for client suitability; collaborates with carriers to quote coverage through appropriate programs.
Leads resolution of escalated complex service issues requiring policy interpretation and experience-based judgment.
Leads client meetings, including renewal meetings, independently as needed.
Supports, mentors, and trains Account Managers and Account Representatives as necessary.
Oversees functions performed by Account Managers and Account Representatives, including renewal strategy approvals and issue resolution.
Keeps abreast of changes in the insurance industry and external conditions; makes recommendations to clients independent of manager approval.
Leads all aspects of client service, marketing, and renewal of the book of business; uses judgment and creativity to produce favorable results.
Responsible for overall retention of accounts in the assigned book of business.
Identifies opportunities for cross-sell and up-sell of HUB products and services where appropriate.
Documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives; updates HUB systems and data to ensure accuracy.
Travels on company business as required; prepares reports for management as required; attends industry-related continuing education.
Generates and pursues new client opportunities; presents HUB services and solutions at prospect meetings; nurtures new business to closure.
Maintains client relationships to retain business and expands client base through referrals or cold outreach.
Educates clients on HUB’s value, service, and offerings; prepares/assists in contracting of clients and required paperwork.
Develops and maintains knowledge of HUB’s core business partners and products; collaborates with team to achieve sales targets.
Ensures optimal coverage with clients, including quoting and follow-ups; maintains up-to-date HUB client databases and regulatory updates.
Attends ongoing industry education to maintain knowledge base.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Work Experience Requirements
7 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in an insurance Account Management role in required lines is preferred. Brokerage experience is preferred.
Excellent oral and written English communications skills.
Leadership experience and independent responsibility for client retention preferred.
Ability to lead and influence in a team environment.
Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and automated agency management systems.
Ability to work a regular, full-time schedule and travel as required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude, self-motivation, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Licensing Or Certification Requirements
Currently licensed in good standing in required lines and states.
Current with all necessary CE credits in required lines and states.
Advanced professional designation highly desirable (e.g. AAI, ARM, CIC).
