Overview
Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) This role supports the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how GEICO uses technology to manage financial data. The ideal candidate has strong functional and technical Finance Systems experience and can drive capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet business goals. Responsibilities
Leverage functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future Finance needs. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Participate in design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations. Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering, and Finance Technology leaders to build out the Finance Data Lake/Warehouse. Support FP&A planning/budgeting, financial reporting, revenue/expense analytics, and the overall finance data architecture to enable a reconciled source of truth. Assist in delivering technology solutions that support the Finance organization’s needs and governance frameworks (SOX and Audit). Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications; share best practices and improve cross-team processes. Help establish a technology roadmap for the Finance Data Lake/Warehouse and associated analytics capabilities. Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft). 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred). 3+ years working with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling. Proficiency with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT). SQL proficiency (writing, debugging, optimizing) and experience with ETL jobs. Experience with major financial vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate finance processes into system solutions; knowledge of FP&A budgeting/forecasting processes. Experience with Revenue/Expense analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.). Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations; ability to work with users across Technology and Finance. Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and in teams. Knowledge of SDLC and project management best practices; problem-solving abilities. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent. Compensation
Base pay range: $115,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr The above range is a general guideline; final offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, location, and market considerations.
