Department Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Storm Water Quality Division, recruiting for two (2) Civil Engineer II positions located at Kapolei Hale.

Responsibilities

Professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program.

Planning, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping.

Participation in periodic and temporary cross training and supplementary work exercises and activities in support of other branches within the division to comply with the city's storm water permit.

You are responsible for monitoring instructions and correspondence from this office by checking your email account in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualification Requirements At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

Education Requirement Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. Foreign credential evaluation (FCE) may be required.

Verification Requirement Clearly list education credentials on your application. Provide an official copy of your diploma and/or transcript with embossed seal or FCE. (Or mail a photocopy to Department of Human Resources, 650 South King Street, 10th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813.)

Experience Requirement One year of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

Experience Knowledge

Principles and practices of general civil engineering; engineering mathematics; engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials.

Principles and practices of topographic surveying; structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering principles and practices to the extent applicable.

Experience Skills

Do engineering drafting and simple design work; interpret plans, specifications, and land descriptions.

Plot survey notes; prepare maps, plans, profiles and cross‑sections.

Substitution A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for the one year of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

License Requirement Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (Type 3) as required.
