Overview

Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws allow. Ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Responsibilities

Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Work under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervising pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within approved policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of technicians. Make decisions regarding discipline and termination within policy guidelines. Customer Experience

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints, respond to requests in a timely manner, and answer non-clinical questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer service best practices. Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to provide the best experience when using the pharmacy. Enhance customer experience by focusing on healthcare services. Operations

Assist pharmacist in delivering patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Perform patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision (where allowed by law). Support healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines and health screenings (as allowed by law). Within policy and legal guidelines, exercise independent judgment to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy. Ensure tasks are completed on time and maintain workflow efficiency. Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies. Manage core pharmacy workflow and drive excellence in operations. Coordinate daily schedule of activities and propose allocation of pharmacy hours. Ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and stocked with supplies. Under pharmacist direction, ensure compliance and execution of business administrative activities and non-licensure inventory management. Manage annual inventory preparation. Complete non-clinical patient calls and support recordkeeping and security safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager. Maintain proper operation of department equipment and support recordkeeping; follow Good Faith Dispensing principles as applicable. Monitor asset protection and report any concerns that could compromise security to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to policies on pharmacy errors and quality improvement. Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, resolve issues, and conduct or participate in third-party audits. Support pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service improvements. People & Performance Management

Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline and termination decisions. Apply constructive discipline policy and hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness. Improve performance through engagement and action planning. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Monitor training completion and follow company procedures for scheduling and training. Identify gaps in operational knowledge and support team members through hands-on training or learning modules. Assist in monitoring licensure, registrations, and certifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Use company resources to document licensure status. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by policy and law. Training & Personal Development

Maintain PTCB certification or equivalent state requirements. Maintain current knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare. Obtain necessary certifications and education credits as required. Follow performance improvement plans offered by the Pharmacy Manager. Seek professional development by monitoring performance, requesting feedback, and engaging leadership as a mentor and coach. Communication

Communicate with the pharmacy team, relay messages from support centers or other key emails as required. Participate in store/pharmacy meetings, including brief daily huddles and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager. External Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). At least one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital settings. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications

Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
