About the Role The Auditor supports the Contract and Enrollment Review Division (CERD). CERD conducts state‑mandated medical and compliance reviews and audits to verify compliance with contractual requirements. The auditor works with provider types including medical, dental, behavioral health, county managed care plans, and Drug Medi‑Cal Organized Delivery Systems. Additional tasks include federally mandated post‑service and post‑payment behavioral health utilization reviews; provider enrollment onsite reviews of high and moderate risk prospective Medi‑Cal providers; onsite reviews for site certification and recertification of county‑owned or operated specialty mental health providers; and other requested third‑party contract compliance reviews.
As an entry‑level position, the Auditor works under the direction of the Health Program Audit Manager I and assists in medical and/or management field audits of Medi‑Cal providers and Medi‑Cal managed care contracted providers.
Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Responsibilities
Support CERD in state‑mandated medical and compliance reviews and audits.
Audit provider types including medical, dental, behavioral health, and county managed care plans.
Conduct federally mandated post‑service and post‑payment behavioral health utilization reviews.
Perform provider enrollment onsite reviews for high and moderate risk prospective Medi‑Cal providers.
Conduct onsite reviews for site certification and recertification of county‑owned or operated specialty mental health providers.
Assist with third‑party contract compliance reviews as requested.
Maintain accurate documentation and complete required audit reports.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification for Auditor I, Health Program Auditor II/III, or Staff Services Management Auditor. Candidates who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Desirable qualifications include: strong work ethic, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams), and strong verbal and written communication skills.
