Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers under the supervision of a pharmacist within approved policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Manage training, coaching, and performance management; make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by greeting customers, resolving non-clinical questions, and ensuring a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Assist the pharmacist in patient care activities including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law; participate in health services such as vaccines and screenings where permitted by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work within company policies and laws; ensure on-time task completion and optimize workflow. Prepare and file reports and records as required by the company and government agencies; manage pharmacy daily schedule and inventory to ensure proper operation and stocking. Drive technology and process improvements, support change management, and ensure security and recordkeeping in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies under pharmacist supervision and ensure elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met. Support asset protection, diversion monitoring, and reporting of any concerns to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and comply with policies related to the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, resolve issues, and follow up with insurers and providers; participate in third-party audits as needed. Assist and support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Manage Community Outreach Portal and coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events; build and sustain relationships with retail partnerships. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including disciplinary actions where appropriate; follow policy to discipline, suspend, terminate, or recommend actions; hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling; monitor timely training completion and follow policies for scheduling and training. Identify gaps in team operational knowledge and support training through hands-on guidance or learning modules. Monitor licensures, registrations, and certifications for pharmacy staff to ensure compliance; leverage company resources to verify status. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by policy and law. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification and stay current with required certifications and training; participate in company training programs and performance improvement plans. Seek professional development through self-assessment and coaching relationships to improve performance. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or other keys emails; participate in store/pharmacy meetings and regular check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation. Salary Range: The current salary range for this position is $22.50 per hour - $31.00 per hour. The actual offer will depend on geography, skills, education, experience, and other factors.
