Position Overview The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is hiring an Accountant for the Office of Fiscal Management. The role processes vendor invoices, employee travel and reimbursement vouchers, confirms fund availability, prepares financial reports, creates SAP earmarks, and tracks federal grant funds. Your work supports the Department’s budget, payroll, and compliance functions.

Essential Functions

Perform technical accounting, budgeting, and expenditure tracking for the Office of Fiscal Management.

Prepare and control the personal services budget.

Maintain accounting records for federal grants and contractual obligations, including SAP earmarks.

Complete RDT and FS12 forms for revenue deposits.

Track balances of federal grant monies and reconcile funds with Comptroller records.

Process U.S. Department of the Interior mineral revenue and USACE land lease payments.

Execute other duties as assigned within scope.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of college with courses in business administration and accounting, or four years of technical accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two years of experience applying accounting theory to routine accounting or audit problems.

At least two years of experience evaluating moderate difficulty accounting problems and interpreting financial records.

At least two years of experience with numerical data and accurate calculation.

At least two years of experience building positive working relationships with colleagues and the public.

Basic knowledge of office procedures, accounting machines, and equipment.

Salary & Benefits Beginning monthly salary $4,954; full range $4,954 – $6,894. Paid position; benefits include health, vision, dental, retirement plan, and pre‑tax benefits.
