Job Summary Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Research Specialist (Open Rank Research Services Entry - Intermediate Professional). This position is a key member of the LEAD Center that will support participant-facing data collection efforts.
The research specialist will assist with data collection at in-person visits and by phone, including collection of surveys, physical measures, and body composition measurement via BOD POD plethysmography. This position will also support study recruitment and manage participant communications in REDCap and through study devices.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research visits and in-person data collection (surveys, physical measures, body composition, etc.).
REDCap data entry.
Biospecimen collection and processing.
Support study recruitment and participant communications by calling, emailing, texting, and scheduling participants.
Adhere to IRB guidelines and study protocol.
Ensure secure data handling.
This position can be offered as part-time (0.5 FTE) to full-time (1.0 FTE) based on candidate availability. This position reports to the Project Manager.
Work Location Onsite – This role is expected to work onsite and is located at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Entry Level
A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Intermediate Level
A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
1 year of professional level experience in a research setting.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in phlebotomy and blood processing
Experience working with children and adolescents
Experience collecting research data
Experience in study recruitment or participant/patient communications
Experience with REDCap database software
Conditions of Employment
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional off-site study visits
* Work schedule is Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday; part-time must include one weekend morning per week; occasional evening or early morning visits with notice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels
Demonstrated ability to foster a community that values diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Ability to implement and follow research protocols
Ability to communicate study procedures clearly to participants
Knowledge of and experience with potential negative reactions to blood collection (fainting, nausea)
Data collection skills, including survey administration and physical measurements
Organizational skills to process lab results

Entry Level: $50,000 - $55,000 (1.0 FTE)
Intermediate Level: $52,721 - $64,000 (1.0 FTE)
The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime depending on the level. Total compensation includes benefits beyond base pay.
