Job Summary
The Colorado Neuroscience of Behavioral Health and Wellness Research Lab in the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Neuroscience, is seeking an entry-level research professional to join their growing team of researchers. Their goal is to develop a better understanding of the neurobiological processes underlying several common aspects of human behavior and how variations or alterations of these processes can lead to negative physical and behavioral health effects. Their research uses functional and structural brain imaging. Much of this imaging involves the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Techniques such as MR spectroscopy are also used to determine levels of different neurotransmitters, and structural imaging, which allow examination of the brain gray and white matter organization.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, enroll, and consent study participants
Conduct participant screening and schedule study visits involving multiple providers/components (e.g., with research staff, nursing staff, physician visits, MRI scans)
Interact with staff across the University and/or VA in performing study duties (e.g., the Clinical Translational Research Center, University of Colorado Hospital, VA Medical Center, Brain Imaging Center, administrative/financial services)
Arrange participant transportation (e.g., cab, bus) when necessary
Perform blood draws for study assessments (training provided)
Administer drug/pregnancy urine screens and interpret results
Collect physiological measures (e.g., height, weight, waist circumference, vital signs)
Administer behavioral questionnaires (e.g., demographics, mood, cognitive function, trauma history, eating behaviors, side effects)
Administer clinical measures relevant to screening and assessment of psychiatric disorders
Assist MRI technologists with brain imaging data collection, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)
Score and enter study data from behavioral, physiological, and/or clinical measures; utilize Excel and REDCap for data collection, entry, and management; prepare exported data files per PI request
Work within electronic health record data systems (UCH and/or VA) to access participant files and record study visit information
Complete and maintain regulatory and safety requirements
Process and track participant payments
Work Location Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience administering clinical interviews and/or cognitive assessments.
Experience with E‑Prime and/or Presentation software.
Experience with REDCap software.
Experience with regulatory compliance procedures (e.g., IRB).
Experience working with individuals who have psychiatric illnesses, such as schizophrenia.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Attention to detail: Ability to accurately document, track, and verify data.
Organizational and time management: Managing study schedules, visits, and document flow.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication with investigators, coordinators, and participants.
Computer proficiency: Comfort using Microsoft Office, databases, and electronic data capture systems.
Problem‑solving: Identifying and addressing data discrepancies or protocol deviations.
Teamwork: Collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
Follow protocols and SOPs: Adherence to research procedures and documentation standards.
Maintain confidentiality: Handle participant and study data responsibly.
Adaptability: Flexibility in responding to changing study demands or priorities.
Critical thinking: Ability to interpret data and recognize potential issues.
