Claims Supervisor II – Property & Casualty Athens Administrators has an immediate need for a full‑time Claims Supervisor II to support our Property & Casualty department. Management that resides less than 36 miles from the local office and has a direct report in the office are required to work once a week in the office. The remaining days can be worked remotely, if technical requirements are met, and the employee lives in a state where we operate (CA, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, MA, NY, NC, NJ, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV). The office is open Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., and employees work a 37.5‑hour week.

Base pay range:

$106,392.00 – $134,729.00 per year

Primary Responsibilities

Lead a unit of mid‑level experienced examiners handling both property damage and bodily injury claims with reportable exposures of $50K or higher.

Manage lower‑level litigation and coverage cases that arise from the unit inventory load.

Plan, schedule, and supervise the unit’s work activities, ensuring compliance with established standards and expectations.

Review claim loss reports, assess claim complexity, and assign claims to appropriate personnel based on licensure, knowledge, and skill.

Approve claim expenses and settlements that exceed the adjuster’s authority limits.

Handle multiple coverage lines with a focus on mid‑level GL exposure across program segments like retail, habitational, or other business class exposure.

Monitor and evaluate reserves for claims within the unit to ensure adequacy and adjust when necessary.

Conduct regular desk reviews of pending and closed files to verify appropriate handling, identify improvement areas, and discuss training needs.

Prepare monthly quality‑control, pending/closed file, and reserve activity reports to track unit performance.

Stay updated on legislation, court decisions, and emerging trends in claims litigation to maintain compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act and recommend procedural changes.

Participate in special projects such as reserve analysis, leakage reduction, and acquisition candidate analysis.

Review and approve direct report monthly expense reports and related operating expenses.

Work closely with management to ensure compliance with budget targets for compensation, expense control, and profitability.

Assist in the selection and monitoring of external vendors.

Collaborate with Senior Claims Examiners and the claims management team to identify unit needs, hire, train, motivate, and retain staff; evaluate performance and recommend salary actions and terminations as necessary.

Help achieve company initiatives and performance goals.

Serve clients regarding policies, programs, and claims issues.

Resolve personnel and workflow problems.

Lead staff unit meetings and attend client and company meetings.

Conduct claim reviews with clients, carriers, and stakeholders.

Ensure consistent and accurate claim coding throughout the unit.

Essential Position Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; AA/AS or BA/BS preferred but not required.

Licenses: must possess a license in your domicile state and at least one license in NY, TX, or FL. Additional state adjuster licenses may be required within 180 days; maintain licenses and continuing education in all required states.

5–7+ years of experience in a claims lead or supervisor role, with expertise in commercial auto, bodily injury, property damage, and general liability.

In‑depth understanding of the company's operating structure and claims procedures, standards, and compliance.

Proficiency in determining case value, negotiating settlements, and using claims handling systems.

Strong knowledge of coverage and claims investigation techniques.

People‑management skills: interviewing, training, team building, performance management.

Business and technical acumen: understand how the business works, how technology supports initiatives, and leverage it to improve efficiency.

Ability to handle stressful situations and deadlines.

Strategic and creative thinking about business pricing, products, and outcomes.

Delegation skills and execution of task completion.

Leadership and partnership with senior management to achieve desired results.

Command of company policies, training, and performance evaluation procedures.

Track claims activity and document all actions accurately.

Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and plan short‑term and long‑term objectives.
