Dionis is seeking a strategic and driven Sales Director to lead our sales efforts across retail, wholesale, and online channels. This incoming role offers a unique opportunity to be mentored and supported by our retiring Sales Director, ensuring a smooth and informed transition. The Sales Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing a high‑performing team, and expanding Dionis' market presence through strong customer relationships and data‑driven decision‑making. The ideal candidate will be both a hands‑on leader and a strategic thinker, able to personally pursue new business opportunities, manage key accounts, and collaborate cross‑functionally to align sales initiatives with brand goals. This position requires up to 50% travel to support account management, trade shows, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Strategy
Lead the overall sales strategy across retail, wholesale, and online channels to achieve annual revenue and profitability goals.
Build, coach, and develop a small but high‑performing sales team and broker network.
Establish scalable systems for forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking, with strong P&L awareness and margin management.
Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to align brand priorities, product launches, and promotional calendars.
Use POS, IRI/Nielsen, and internal data to identify white space, underperforming accounts, and promotional opportunities.
Support the team in closing sales deals and managing lead and opportunity pipelines.
Ensure accurate inventory planning and demand forecasting in coordination with Operations and Marketing.
Strengthen and expand relationships with major retailers and distributors (e.g., Ulta, CVS, Amazon, boutique and specialty accounts).
Drive sell‑in and sell‑through strategies to maximize product visibility, margin, and performance.
Oversee broker and distributor management, ensuring consistent brand presentation and execution.
Identify and personally pursue new business opportunities to expand Dionis’ market presence, while actively supporting and guiding the sales team in achieving collective growth goals.
Set and manage monthly and quarterly sales goals by channel, aligned with company financial targets.
Lead regular performance review meetings to synchronize cross‑departmental initiatives.
Analyze POS, retail portal, and DTC data to evaluate sell‑through, promotional lift, and SKU‑level performance.
Collaborate with the President to refine assortments, merchandising, and promotional strategies based on data insights.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
Provide ongoing sales analysis, forecasting, and P&L input for leadership planning.
Identify underperforming accounts or regions and develop turnaround strategies.
Use category and market data (IRI, Nielsen, SPINS, or retailer portals) to identify white space and guide innovation.
Brand & Market Alignment
Represent Dionis authentically with buyers, distributors, and trade partners.
Translate the brand’s farm‑fresh story and clean‑ingredient ethos into compelling sales presentations.
Stay ahead of market trends in skincare, natural beauty, and retail innovation to position Dionis competitively.
Customer Relationships & Trade Support
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts through consistent communication and understanding of customer needs.
Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings to strengthen partnerships and uncover new opportunities.
Travel to accounts and trade shows (up to 50%) to support sales initiatives, assist with booth setup/breakdown, and coordinate product samples for meetings and events.
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive sales experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within beauty, personal care, or consumer packaged goods, with proven success in both sell‑in and sell‑through strategies.
Track record of growing retail and wholesale accounts (e.g., Ulta, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Amazon, independent boutiques), including broker/distributor management and margin optimization.
Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel, sales dashboards, and retail data tools (e.g., POS, IRI/Nielsen, SPINS); skilled in SKU‑level tracking and forecasting.
Budget management experience, including developing, analyzing, and optimizing departmental budgets aligned with strategic goals.
Entrepreneurial and agile mindset; thrives in a fast‑paced, founder‑led environment and is comfortable building systems and processes from the ground up.
Collaborative leadership style, with experience partnering cross‑functionally across Marketing, Operations, and Finance to drive aligned growth.
