Working Hours The System Administrator will perform tasks during the Government's primary operational hours, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM through 6:00 PM. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Telework may be authorized with coordination with the COR and approved by the Contracting Officer (CO).

Summary Of Duties The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is the medical certification, education, research, and occupational medicine arm of the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) under the auspices of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Aviation Safety (AVS). The Aerospace Medical Research Division of CAMI (AAM-600) is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK. The System Administrator will support the Knowledge Management Team of the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in administering and maintaining the servers, software, and networks that comprise the local knowledge management system. The role also involves assisting in monitoring system security, updating and installing security patches and software as necessary, and responding to periodic system security assessments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in System Administration, Computer Science, or similar fields.

Two (2) years of experience in administering secure, onsite systems and networks, including troubleshooting and resolving problems with those systems

OR

High school diploma plus at least six (6) years of experience administering secure, onsite systems and networks, including troubleshooting and resolving problems with those systems.

Two (2) years of experience in assessing and maintaining system security, network security, and authorized user accessibility in accordance with company regulations.

Two (2) years of experience in implementing new systems and network security requirements.

Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS.

Minimum two (2) years of experience as a system or network administrator.

Experience working in Linux operating systems.

Experience with configuration management, including implementing new system, network, and/or database security requirements.

Experience administering a multi-node Linux HPC system, including 1 year of experience operating cluster management software.

Problem-solving ability allowing applicants to examine, troubleshoot, and solve issues related to job duties with little to no assistance, and one year of experience resolving computer user service requests.

Must have one (1) year of experience with teamwork and interpersonal communication, including interaction with team members, users/customers with varying levels of expertise, and management personnel.

Two (2) years of experience working productively in a team environment, meeting deadlines, and responding to requests according to a defined schedule.

Attire System Administrator (Network & Computer Systems Administrator) is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty.

Duties And Responsibilities

Assist under minimal direction in administering and maintaining servers, software, and networks comprising a local knowledge management system.

Assist in monitoring system security, updating and installing security patches and software as necessary, and assist in responding to periodic system security assessments.

Respond to customer service requests by analyzing and resolving the indicated problem or problems.

Maintain the ability of users/customers to access databases and software securely.

Monitor current security regulations and orders for changes or revisions, and initiate the necessary revisions to applicable SOPs under direction.

Troubleshoot and resolve network-related problems identified by customers or other stakeholders. Assist in administering a high-performance Linux computing system and network-attached storage.

Assist in performing system and software backups and updates.

Assist in identifying, testing, recommending, and installing new software as requested by users or management.

Administer the CAMI High Performance Computer, including cluster and node management, performing system and software backups and updates, integration with HPC contract support, and maintenance of network connectivity for users.

Assist AAM-600 government employees and Contractors in the use of the High-Performance Computer, including training in proper use and writing documentation, identifying, testing, recommending, and installing new software as requested by users or management.

Assist the Knowledge Management team, upon request, in system updates and maintenance of Research Computers, including computers with both Windows and Linux operating systems.

Maintain the ability of customers to access databases and software located on the HPC system securely. This will sometimes require serving as a point of contact for projects updating infrastructure, networks, and connectivity that affect the Aerospace Medical Research Division (AAM-600).
