The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is accepting applications for the position of Hybrid OTD Program Director for the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPTRS) within the Morsani College of Medicine to begin Spring 2026.
This is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) on-site faculty position, available as either tenured or non-tenured, and will remain open until filled. This newly created role reports directly to the Director of SPT&RS/Associate Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity for an educational leader to join a strong team, develop an innovative hybrid OTD program, and prepare students to transform health by enhancing participation in everyday life activities. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills and excel in team collaboration.
The position involves administrative duties, with additional responsibilities (e.g., teaching, research/scholarship, and service) based on the candidate's qualifications and the program's needs. Faculty rank and salary are highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
SPTRS is proud to house three academic programs: the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, a Master of Science in Athletic Training, and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Rehabilitation Science, offered in collaboration with the College of Public Health.
Responsibilities
Development and oversight of the hybrid OTD program including curriculum, program assessment, and accreditation
OTD program faculty selection, leadership, development, and/or mentoring in innovative teaching approaches
Pursuit of research/scholarship
Management of the OTD budget
Administrative responsibilities within SPTRS (e.g., management of the Hybrid OTD program)
Minimum Qualifications
Initial certification as an occupational therapist
Must be an occupational therapist who holds a current license to practice as an occupational therapist in any United States jurisdiction and is eligible for licensure in Florida
Hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the field of occupational therapy to include clinical practice, administration, scholarship, and understanding of the role of the occupational therapy assistant
AOTA membership
Minimum of four (4) years of full-time post-baccalaureate education experience
Understanding of ACOTE accreditation standards and requirements
Desire to teach in area of expertise
Must meet University criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor
Preferred Qualifications
Academic administrative experience
Experience measuring program outcomes
Strong record of scholarly/research productivity and dissemination, with a focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning
Documented experience and accomplishments in inter-professional education and academic endeavors
Experience with academic accreditation processes
Experience in administration of hybrid programs
Experience with teaching in hybrid programs
Experience with recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of faculty
History of University and/or Association Service
