Job Description The Department of Neuroscience is seeking a
Scientific Laboratory Manager (SLM)
to join
Dr. Jones’s laboratory . The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the lab, including oversight of compliance, safety, regulatory requirements, finances, personnel training, and research support.
The SLM will serve as the primary liaison between the Principal Investigator (PI), regulatory committees, vendors, and laboratory personnel. Responsibilities include managing all
IRB, IACUC, and biosafety protocols
and ensuring compliance with institutional and federal policies. The SLM will also represent the lab in meetings, resolve issues related to regulatory approvals, and oversee animal care activities.
Additional Duties
Supervising, training, and onboarding laboratory personnel
Monitoring and maintaining inventory of reagents and supplies
Managing equipment contracts, service, and maintenance
Maintaining fiscal records and monitoring PI funds and expenditures
Contribute to scientific activities at the bench, including cell culture, cell maintenance, and management of the liquid nitrogen inventory
$70,000 - $75,000 Annually
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred
Extensive skills in scientific writing of protocols, SOPs, training documents, and/or scientific manuscripts
