As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities, and quality of life. You will work with planners, engineers, architects, and specialists to solve complex mobility challenges with innovation, technical excellence, and a deep understanding of community needs.

Role Overview As Regional Market Sector Leader, you will serve as overall lead across the Northeast Region, setting vision and direction for implementing the firm’s strategy to expand and provide aviation services to current and potential clients. You will facilitate development and implementation of Aviation Market Sector business strategies and operating plans across the firm in coordination with leadership teams.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Client Manager for key clients within the area, acting as a pursuit champion and resource for HDR pursuits.

Identify and develop project opportunities, planning, directing, and monitoring large multi-discipline or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity.

Drive business development by assessing the region’s marketplace, determining the best approach to secure contracts, and collaborating across sectors.

Promote HDR services to clients, support marketing and delivery, and develop industry associations and community organizations.

Identify technological investments and build relationships with industry counterparts and senior client leaders.

Staff Development Responsibilities

Coordinate regional support and work-sharing among departments.

Drive technical excellence and coordinate staffing for programs and marketing efforts.

Identify needs for new or improved services and products within the practice.

Assist in recruiting and talent management for key hires.

Support to Operations

Assist in client management, monitoring market sector performance indicators, and implementing process improvements.

Facilitate work-sharing and optimize company resources.

Assist with contract review, risk management, quality reviews, and claim resolution.

Promote QA/QC and support marketing and project activities with key technical expertise.

Lead annual planning for the market sector and provide insights for trends and drivers.

Preferred Qualifications

15+ years of experience in aviation planning and/or engineering.

If engineer, maintain engineering registration.

Established relationships with NE aviation clients.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning, or related field.

Minimum 10 years of industry experience.

Experience in strategic marketing programs for architecture, engineering, or planning services.

Experience in managing a range of client relationships and project pursuits.

Experience in staff development, recruiting, and career growth.

Active participation in industry associations and strong market sector presence.

Compensation ranges: Connecticut $195,135‑$264,006; Maryland $186,252‑$252,005; Massachusetts $212,874‑$288,006; New Jersey $204,004‑$276,006; New York $177,395‑$330,625; Ohio $177,395‑$240,005; Rhode Island $186,265‑$252,005; Washington D.C. $221,744‑$300,006.
