Overview The John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in Public Budgeting and Finance at the rank of

Assistant or Associate Professor

beginning Autumn 2026. We encourage applications from individuals engaged in high‑quality research that is relevant to public affairs. Research and teaching interests should focus on public budgeting or public finance, broadly construed to include public financial management, financial reporting, performance‑based budgeting, fiscal sustainability and resilience, debt management, capital finance, tax and fiscal policy, and financial administration.

Responsibilities

Conduct high quality research in any subfield of public budgeting or public finance.

Teach core and elective courses in the college’s undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, creating learning environments in which all students are valued and engaged.

Engage in service to the college, university, community, and professional associations.

Qualifications Required:

Ph.D. in Public Affairs or a related field, or be on track to complete before starting the position.

Demonstrated ability to conduct high‑quality research in public budgeting or public finance.

Desired:

Engagement with public affairs professional associations (e.g., Association for Budgeting and Financial Management, National Tax Association, Public Management Research Association, Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management) and publication in affiliated public affairs journals.

Research relevant to state or local government with evidence of or potential for research partnerships with state or local governmental entities.

Relevant prior teaching, mentoring, and professional experience.
