The Disability & Survivor Benefits Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst, willing to consider Staff Services Analyst in the Survivor Benefits (SB) Unit. The Disability and Survivor Benefits (DaSB) Division administers two core CalSTRS benefits: Disability Services and Survivor Benefits. The SB Unit provides support to members and beneficiaries during the survivor benefits application process. Under the direction of the Pension Program Manager I (PPM I), the AGPA acting as the Survivor Benefits Senior Analyst independently performs a range of complex analytical duties, provides support to the division, and serves as a lead analyst and resource to support the organization’s objectives and goals. Key Qualifications / Skills (Ideal Candidate)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience handling multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to interpret and apply CalSTRS laws, rules, and policies. Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, draw logical conclusions, and make clear and concise recommendations. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to manage a caseload with changing priorities while meeting deadlines. Positive attitude, open-mindedness, flexibility and tact. Effective verbal and written communication with CalSTRS employees, members, and beneficiaries. Duties and Career Progression
Duties will be adjusted at the Staff Services Analyst level. Every 12 months, based on performance, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position. The position may be subject to the California Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025), resulting in a monthly base pay reduction in exchange for leave credits. Minimum Requirements
