Job Summary
Augusta University's Dental College of Georgia seeks a Department Chair of General Dentistry. The position is a full‑time, tenured or non‑tenure track administrative faculty role, rank Associate Professor or Professor. The Chair will lead the department, oversee pre‑doctoral teaching, research, scholarship, intramural faculty practice, and senior student care. The Chair reports directly to the Dean and collaborates with other DCG chairs to create a positive, productive environment for faculty, staff, residents, students, and patients. Responsibilities
Teaching—45% of time: develop lectures, seminars, simulation labs, clinical supervision, and student‑care activities. Scholarship—15%: conduct research and publish findings or present at professional conferences. Service—10%: serve on college and university committees and represent the department publicly. Clinical/Patient Care—10%: maintain practice skills by caring for patients through AU Dental Associates intramural practice. Administration—20%: provide leadership on curriculum, faculty development, and departmental guidance in teaching, research, and service. Qualifications
DDS/DMD degree. Minimum 5 years experience in dental education and at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience with CODA processes for pre‑doctoral programs. Collaboration with senior administrators, accrediting agencies, and professional organizations. Evidence of teaching, scholarship, and other faculty duties. USG institutional employment qualifications: SACSCOC accreditation requirements, teaching ability, scholarly activity, and demonstrated personal qualities. Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in business or administration (MBA, MPA) or related certificate. At least five years in full‑time private practice or equivalent time serving general/restorative care. Leadership training with higher‑education focus. Salary and Benefits
