Job Summary The primary responsibility of the position is the preparation of proposals and daily project administration tasks. Manages all administrative aspects of clinical trial Pre-Award, including budget development, compliance review, preparation of agency application forms, and ensures funding agency deadlines are met. Manages all administrative aspects of clinical trial Post-Award, including budget monitoring, compliance oversight, preparation of agency documentation, and ensures sponsor deadlines are met. Develops a broad knowledge of sponsored programs administration on the job and through formal training. Work includes fiscal administration or contract administration with extensive and demonstrable knowledge of federal regulations governing contract administration. A minimum of three-plus years' experience with one-year ODURF experience preferred or external years of experience equivalent with contract administration. This position is designated as a telework position and is subject to Telework and Workplace Flexibility Policy terms.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree
in a general professional or technical field such as finance, business administration or advanced mathematics. Or a bachelor's degree in the same with work experience equivalent to a master's degree.
Working
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Excel and Word required. Experience with research administration is required; experience clinical research administration is preferred.
Working
knowledge of administrative processes in a professional or academic environment, with a willingness to learn clinical research administration, budgeting principles, and regulatory requirements.
Working
organizational and time-management skills to support multiple deadlines, tasks, and maintain accurate documentation.
Working
problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply logic and judgement when evaluating administrative options or resolving routine issues, while taking a collaborative, team-oriented approach to developing and implementing solutions.
Working
attention to detail – particularly in reviewing documentation, entering data, and managing compliance.
Basic
ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Certified Research Administration (CRA) certification is preferred but not required.
Work requires
considerable
experience in grant and contract experience.

Department Information The Clinical Contract Coordinator position is housed within Old Dominion University's Division of Research and Economic Development (DivRED), operating through the Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) and the ODU Research Foundation. SPA oversees the full lifecycle of research administration for the university—spanning proposal development, contract negotiation, award management, and post-award compliance.
This role is embedded within the Virginia Health SciencesHS) Office of Research, which serves as the on-site research administration hub supporting ODU's health sciences and clinical research initiatives. The position works closely with investigators, departmental staff, and central SPA teams to ensure timely, compliant, and coordinated administration of clinical research agreements and related documentation.
