Job Overview The Director of Estimating leads the company’s estimating function across all branch locations, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building envelope projects. This leader is responsible for building a high‑performing, cross‑functional estimating team within a matrixed organization. Endeavors to align estimating practices with the company’s core values:

This role works closely with branch managers, operations, and business development to support project pursuits, drive consistency across regions, and contribute to long‑term strategic success.

Core Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all estimating personnel across multiple branches.

Develop and implement standardized estimating processes, tools, and best practices.

Participate in strategic planning and collaborate with leadership on pursuit strategies and revenue targets.

Coordinate and support estimating teams in various regional offices.

Ensure consistency and quality of estimating outputs across all locations.

Monitor and manage team workload, bid schedules, and estimate delivery timelines.

Provide functional leadership to the regional estimating managers and professionals within the waterproofing division.

Review project documents, perform risk assessments, and lead major estimate efforts when required.

Oversee the maintenance of historical cost data and production metrics.

Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate handoffs and budget alignment.

Drive and promote Valcourt Sales and Estimating Tollgate process throughout all regions.

Leverage SalesForce.com to drive estimating and bidding process adherence.

Work to better standardize bid review operating rhythm across the division, and drive project close rigor to capture “as executed” production figures for future bidding accuracy.

Serve as a trusted partner to sub‑contractors, clients, architects, and engineers.

Work with procurement and field leadership to ensure subcontractor and vendor relationships support bid coverage and cost certainty.

Provide high‑level oversight on preconstruction deliverables and client‑facing proposals.

Hire, train, and develop a high‑performing team of estimators across the organization.

Promote a culture of safety‑first, mutual respect, and continuous growth.

Facilitate team collaboration through regular meetings, shared learning opportunities, and inter‑branch communication.

Qualifications

Education

– Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Experience

– 10+ years in construction estimating, 5+ years in leadership.

Industry Expertise

– Waterproofing, restoration, façade repair, structural concrete, sealants.

Technology

– Proficient in Procore, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, On‑Screen Takeoff, HeavyBid, or equivalent.

Travel

– Occasional travel (20–35%) to support regional branches.
