About the Role

The Sample Handling Specialist plays a critical role in the daily operations of Savant Labs by receiving, preparing, and organizing fluid samples—primarily oils—for laboratory testing. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures with precision.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, open, and inspect incoming oil and fluid samples, verifying contents against accompanying paperwork.

Accurately check‑in and schedule testing for all materials received for analysis, quality programs, and internal requests – working closely with the Customer Support and Logistics Specialist.

Photograph samples and edit images as needed for inclusion in final test reports.

Maintain inventory of required supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow.

Package samples for Savant Labs to be stored in offsite warehouse, documenting where appropriate.

Follow all safety requirements for job and those activities performed.

Demonstrate professionalism and performance standards according to the values established by the Savant Group.

Float, as necessary, to assist facility maintenance in the warehouse for the scheduled disposal of Savant Lab samples.

Assist laboratory technicians and managers with various tasks, including lab support and general workflow assistance, as needed.

Process samples for CQA programs as required.

Skills & Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Two years’ experience in shipping/receiving, parts management, or related field.

Ability to foster good team dynamics, collaboration, and be flexible implementing daily work.

Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products – specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook. Working knowledge of photo editing software is also a plus.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Self‑starter and strong work ethics with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong organization and facilitation skills.

Sharp attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to multi‑task and prioritize activities efficiently.

Listens well to instruction with efficient follow through.

Ability to communicate with leadership and co‑workers.

Patience in a potentially fast‑moving, sometimes distracting, environment.

Exhibits good oral and written communication skills and professional demeanor.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to move/lift equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Other physical efforts may include but not limited to carrying weight, lifting, seeing, hearing, talking, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion/dexterity, and other physical requirements as required by the position.

Schedule

Part‑time hourly position, 20 hours per week is required. Normal schedule will be Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
