$48,500-$54,000 annually

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This position is a key partner in advancing our mission by supporting employees, fostering engagement, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in supporting all areas of human resources including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment & Staffing

Lead and support full cycle recruiting for open positions across all departments.

Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and identify top talent.

Post positions, screen applicants, schedule interviews, and coordinate job offers.

Facilitate pre-employment background checks, drug screenings, and onboarding documentation.

Build relationships with community partners, schools, and employment networks to attract qualified candidates.

Onboarding, Engagement & Training

Conduct new hire orientations and ensure timely completion of onboarding paperwork.

Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including DOT physicals, license renewals, and certifications.

Support the creation and delivery of training programs focused on compliance, safety, and employee development.

Promote employee engagement initiatives that reinforce FHATA’s values and culture.

Administration Benefits

Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, and retirement plans.

Process enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately through HR and payroll systems.

Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefits, leave of absence, and wellness programs.

Coordinate annual open enrollment and assist in preparing benefit communications and presentations.

Manage workers’ compensation claims, FMLA, and return-to-work processes.

Compliance & HR Operations

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and FHATA policies.

Prepare, maintain, and submit required HR reports and documentation.

Serve as Designated Employer Representative (DER) for FHATA’s drug and alcohol testing program.

Support HR audits, ACA reporting, and other compliance initiatives.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance HR effectiveness.

Employee Relations & Support

Provide professional, confidential, and responsive HR support to employees and managers.

Assist with performance management processes, investigations, and employee counseling.

Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture.

Partner with leadership to address employee engagement and retention strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent HR experience).

Education Preferred:

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or PHR certification. Preferred.

Experience:

3–5 years of progressive experience in human resources (generalist or related HR functions).

Experience Preferred:

Experience in public or transportation-related organizations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and HR Information Systems (HRIS).

Strong understanding of employment law, benefits administration, and recruitment best practices.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.

Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and staff at all levels.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at all times.
