About the Role A mission-driven nonprofit in Sacramento is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join its Finance team. This position is responsible for a range of accounting duties, including overseeing monthly and year-end closes, maintaining internal controls, supporting audit processes, and supervising junior accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead monthly and year-end close processes
Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Support financial audits and ensure compliance with GAAP
Analyze financial data and perform necessary adjustments
Assist with payroll and internal reporting as needed
Supervise Accounting Clerks and support team operations
Maintain and improve accounting systems, policies, and procedures
Collaborate with Finance team on projects and reporting tasks
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Seniority level Entry level
