Technical Support Engineer - Contractor
Summary Description Under the supervision of a Technical Unit Supervisor, this position is part of a team responsible for the computer and network infrastructure supporting a large enterprise. The Technical Support Engineer - Contractor will provide service to customers across various locations and will be based in Madison.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and support enterprise software and hardware.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software in courthouses and system offices across multiple regions.
Provide technical customer support and take corrective action as needed.
Perform field service to upgrade hardware and resolve technology issues.
Respond effectively to unplanned events such as system failures or natural disasters affecting production systems.
Travel Requirements Travel will vary based on workload and seasonal demands. This is an in-person role based in Madison, with a minimum of 50% travel required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to set up computers, peripherals, and audio/visual equipment
Knowledge of operating systems and hardware
Skill in maintaining equipment in courtrooms, offices, and server areas
Strong troubleshooting abilities
Professional customer service skills
Effective verbal and written communicationUnderstanding of local and wide area networking
Ability to implement infrastructure hardware, respond to technical emergencies, and apply cybersecurity policies
Education and Experience Required
Associate's Degree in computer science, computer technology, or related field
Experience providing phone-based technical support
Experience in hardware and software support and maintenance
Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting computers, printers, scanners, and peripherals
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or training in audio/visual technologies and video conferencing
Experience or training in Windows Server
Experience or training in Remote Desktop Services
Experience or training in Active Directory and Group Policy
Experience or training in Local Area Networks
Licenses and Certifications
Must meet minimum standards for operating a company vehicle
Must be able to travel with overnight stays as needed
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
