Ocean Import Operator
to join their growing Chicago team. This position offers the opportunity to work within a global network while contributing to the smooth handling of international shipments.
Position Overview The
Ocean Import Operator
will manage the full cycle of ocean import shipments, ensuring all documentation, compliance, and coordination tasks are completed accurately and on time. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of import procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage
door-to-door ocean import shipments
from origin to final delivery.
Review and process
import documentation , including Bills of Lading, Arrival Notices, ISF filings, Customs entries, and delivery orders.
Communicate daily with customers, carriers, Customs brokers, and overseas agents to ensure timely shipment movement.
Ensure compliance with
U.S. Customs
and other regulatory requirements.
Update and maintain accurate shipment data within
CargoWise
(experience preferred).
Track, trace, and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates to customers.
Handle billing, invoicing, and cost control associated with shipments.
Resolve any shipment or documentation discrepancies promptly.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum
2+ years’ experience
in international freight forwarding, with a focus on
ocean import operations .
Strong knowledge of
import documentation , U.S. Customs procedures, and Incoterms.
Experience using
CargoWise
is highly beneficial.
Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, deadline‑driven environment.
