Maintenance Manager – Food & Beverage Manufacturing Location: Asheville, NC (Relocation available)

Compensation: $140,000–$155,000 per year

About the role: The Maintenance Manager leads a team of 24 technicians and 4 salaried employees to ensure reliable facility operations, continuous improvement of preventive & predictive maintenance programs, budget stewardship, and full compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of 4 salaried employees and 24 technicians, providing leadership, coaching, productivity monitoring, training, and enforcement of policies and procedures.

Design, manage, and continuously improve the Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs to significantly enhance equipment reliability, maximize technician wrench time, and increase operator engagement, including proactive backlog management and planning periodic equipment overhauls.

Manage the annual Repair & Maintenance (R&M) budget, actively identifying and executing opportunities to reduce cost and eliminate waste.

Maintain and drive continuous improvement in critical regulatory and safety programs, including Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Process Safety Management (PSM), ensuring full compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA, and EPA requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

BS degree or equivalent experience is required.

7–9 years of management experience, with at least 2–3 years leading a maintenance department preferred.

Demonstrated ability to produce results in reliability/OEE through the administration of a preventive/predictive maintenance program.

Solid working knowledge of a wide range of industrial systems, including electrical systems, industrial controls (PLCs/VFDs), mechanical systems, hydraulics, compressed air, boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, waste treatment systems, and building maintenance within a high‑speed Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.

Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food processing equipment. Experience with bottling and canning is highly preferred.

Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, FDA, USDA, and EPA requirements in a manufacturing setting.
