The Security and Safety Specialist provides support to the instructional process, focusing on the safety and welfare of students, staff, and community members on school grounds, in accordance with school and district policies. This role reports to Site Administration. Essential Functions
Communicate safety policies to students, staff, and visitors to ensure understanding and maintain a positive campus climate. Monitor student behavior during various times and events, supervise lunchrooms, classrooms, detention, athletic events, etc., and assist students in following guidelines. Patrol school facilities to promote safety and security. Assist with emergency response plans during school emergencies. Document incidents and behaviors in writing. Manage traffic and parking to ensure smooth flow. Respond to safety and security incidents promptly. Participate in training and team meetings to stay informed and improve skills. Support campus culture by encouraging reflection and accountability among students. Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure effective school operations and well-being. Assist at other district campuses as needed. Attend district training sessions, including behavioral safety and de-escalation strategies. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability. Completion of required training (e.g., safety, first aid, CPR, AED, bleeding control). Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Adhere to safety practices and operate standard office and security equipment. Understand basic math, written procedures, and communicate clearly. Work effectively with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities. Physical and Environmental Requirements
Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and standing; mostly sitting and walking; performed under temperature extremes with exposure to risks. Additional Requirements
