SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER Job Code: JC-497790 Position Number: 901-200-4724-911 Salary: $8,678.00 - $10,783.00 per Month (New to State candidates hired into the minimum salary)
Location: 1656 Union Street, Eureka, CA 95501 (Humboldt County) Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
Responsibilities
Track and coordinate public engagement efforts within the district.
Coordinate the Quality Management Assessment Process (QMAP) encroachment permit projects administered by others on the State Highway System.
Serve as the program specialist for Non‑SHOP P and STIP programs, including monitoring and coordinating project programming and funding.
Communicate and coordinate with Project Development Teams and encroachment permit applicants to provide the support necessary for successful QMAP project delivery.
Inform the Office Chief of Project Management of all major issues that cannot be resolved at the Project Development Team level and assist with engagement coordination by communicating with the District Engagement Coordinator.
Qualifications
All candidates must take and pass the applicable examination for this job to be eligible.
Knowledge of the project development process and general practices of transportation planning; familiarity with the requirements of all functional units involved in project development; project agreement development and management; federal and state laws and regulations; concepts and terminology related to transportation planning and project development; sources of funding for transportation programs and associated guidelines; equitable stakeholder engagement best practices; and effective public participation techniques.
Ability to provide leadership for the coordination of oversight and QMAP projects and schedules, and the successful delivery through multidisciplinary teams that involve input and consensus from the public, local officials, and fellow employees.
Strong analytical abilities, including the capacity to analyze raw data, reason logically, recognize problems, and develop effective solutions.
Experience monitoring resources and ensuring projects are on time and within budget.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Special Requirements
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12‑point Arial font.
