Base Pay Range Minimum salary ranges for this position are:
Level A: $6,488.00 – $7,735.00
Level B: $7,428.00 – $9,296.00
Level C: $8,896.00 – $11,131.00
Level D: $9,712.00 – $12,152.00
New State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range, when applicable. Job Description & Duties The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Structure Construction (SC) is hiring a Transportation Engineer (Civil) for a hybrid site in San Luis Obispo County. Under the direction of a Senior Bridge Engineer, the incumbent will:
Perform professional engineering work on highway construction projects, including bridges, buildings, walls, barriers, drainage structures, sign structures, and appurtenances.
Serve as a field engineer ensuring that contractors build structures in compliance with contract documents (Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, Contract Plans and Special Provisions).
Act as an Assistant Structure Representative or Assistant Resident Engineer/Resident Engineer on construction projects.
Progress from entry‑level to more complex work as experience is gained.
Special Requirements
Appointment to Range D requires a valid California Professional Engineering (PE) License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers; other ranges do not require a PE license.
A valid California driver’s license (CDL) is required for operating state-owned or leased vehicles.
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required in addition to a resume.
