Summary The Senior Operations Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in the day‑to‑day operations of the plasma donor center. As a senior frontline leader, the role oversees daily donor floor activities, supervises staff, and supports compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The supervisor acts as a lead resource during shifts, ensures execution of operational priorities, and provides direct support to the Center Manager to drive performance, donor satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as leader in the absence of the Center Manager and maintain the ability to perform any/all tasks within the center.
Oversee donor operations and supervise Operation Supervisor(s) and donor center staff during assigned shifts, including staffing coordination, task assignments, break schedules and coaching.
Create employee schedules to accommodate donor cycles.
Determine adequacy and adjust inventory levels of all goods and supplies, compile and submit orders to vendors as needed.
Keep Center Manager informed of any irregularities and provide action plans for improvement.
Execute daily operational plans to meet center performance targets related to donor throughput, quality and productivity.
Partner with Center Manager and Quality team to identify and resolve deviations or operational concerns in real time.
Monitor donor flow and proactively address delays or service issues to ensure an exceptional donor experience.
Maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with all federal and state regulations, FDA SOP Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP and internal procedures.
Supervise donor selection, plasma collection and all manufacturing records to meet production standards.
Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
Ensure accurate documentation of necessary records is performed.
Maintain a neat, clean facility and keep equipment in good working order.
Submit timely and accurate reports and assist in the control of center donor funds.
Participate in onboarding, training and cross‑training of staff.
Communicate effectively with other service areas to ensure accurate documentation and quality.
Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, teamwork and accountability.
Report all unsafe situations or conditions to the appropriate lead or manager.
May be trained to repair plasma center equipment.
Assist the Center Manager in any additional tasks necessary for company objectives.
Education
High school diploma or GED.
Certified as a Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer.
CPR Certified.
Experience Typically requires 6 years of related experience in phlebotomy, donor processing and plasma processing, with demonstrated proficiency in handling difficult situations.
Equivalency Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of education and experience may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: an Associate’s degree plus 2 years of experience may be equivalent to 4 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities Exceptional customer service skills; proficient English with clear written and spoken communication; bi‑lingual skills where applicable; ability to understand and follow SOPs and protocols; flexible scheduling to meet business needs; performance in a highly regulated, high‑volume medical business where donor and employee safety are paramount.
Occupational Demands Work performed in a plasma center; exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious organisms; exposure to electrical and laboratory equipment; exposure to extreme cold below 32°F while operating freezers; requires standing 4–6 hours per day and sitting 1–2 hours per day; frequent arm and hand movements; heavy lifting up to 50 lbs; hearing acuity and color vision required; ability to work independently under written instructions.
Compensation And Benefits The estimated pay range for the Senior Operations Supervisor in Bakersfield, CA is $26.40 – $39.60 per hour. Eligible to participate in up to 15% of the company bonus pool. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, up to 5% 401(k) match and tuition reimbursement. Compensation depends on education, experience, skill set and market data.
