Responsibilities
Provide person-centered wellness-focused support to engage individuals in treatment and promote use of individual wellness recovery plans.
Share lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and community involvement, and help individuals articulate personal goals for wellness, recovery resilience, and self‑advocacy.
Function within the individual treatment team and receive individual supervision.
Show knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance disorders.
Offer peer support, advocacy, and wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use disorders.
Promote recovery, employment, education, health, and community integration; serve as a role model for personal recovery.
Provide outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, consultation to families, development of functional skills, and transportation to implement service plans.
Participate in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community.
Collaborate with staff, hospitals, law‑enforcement agencies, and other community agencies and organizations.
Document all contacts and activities in client records.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be, or previously have been, a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services and be well along in the recovery process.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Preferred Requirements
Certification as an Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery (APPR) Facilitator.
Certification and registration as a Peer Recovery Specialist.
Some college education.
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and CANIS report may be required.
Salary Annual salary range: $42,217 – $73,880.
Shift differentials: $2.00 for 2nd shift, $3.00 for 3rd shift.
