Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, and related systems.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, air conditioning systems, engine electronics, steering systems, transmissions, and other components.
Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
Identify problems, assess information, and generate and evaluate alternatives with sound judgment.
Independently manage parts inventory and company-issued tools on the service truck; perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application on an iOS device.
Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within or close to Standard Repair Times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required.
Age at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations; valid driver’s license required and the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
