Elm Street, High Point, NC 27262 351 licensed beds No Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information: Beds 18 Average Daily Census: 18 Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year Cardiac Telemetry experience or PCU experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: General medical patients requiring continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic and neurologic status having a NSTEMI or status post STEMI, cardiac interventional procedure, electrophysiology procedure, thoracic surgery, heart failure, post stroke General, Vascular, or immediate thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory or hemodynamic support include pharmacological titration of cardiac anti-arrhythmic drips Post op day 2 post open heart Respiratory failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen devices or NIPPV Patient Ratios: RN: 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS – Resource Team requirements Skills required: Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, titration of drips, non-invasive ventilator care (BiPAP/CPAP) We have Respiratory Therapist 24/7 Vascular lines, chest tubes or drains, post procedure site care Trans radial bands, femoral venous or arterial sheaths, post EP permanent pacemaker or ICD, post pulmonary artery thrombectomy Support within the Department: CNA? Yes Receptionist/HUC? No Charge nurse? Yes Phlebotomy? Varies IV/VAT Team? No Resource Nurse? No (Charge Nurse serves as Resource) Rapid Response Team? Yes RT 24/7? Yes Hospitalist 24/7? Yes Telemetry monitoring? RN is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring including interpretation of the rhythm Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Baxter Med dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Philips Intellivue; all 18 rooms have an in room monitor Unit specific equipment: Arterial lines for invasive BP monitoring interfacing with Philips monitors Orientation (facility and unit): Orientation – 36 hours week 1 includes NTO and Online CBL (Healthstream) 12-hour departmental specific orientation shift with an RN Preceptor Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other On call? None Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays RTO: Resource Team approval Shift times: Days 0700-1930; Nights 1900-0730 Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks Other notes: Scrub Color: Royal Blue Parking: Free Unit Culture: Positive Team focused (High Tech, High Touch); We work as ONE team.
