Unit: ICU Beds: 20 Average Daily Census: 18 Responsibilities (examples of patient care and unit duties)

General medical patients requiring advanced hemodynamics and continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic and neurologic status Respiratory compromise or failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen devices, NIPPV or ventilator support Renal failure with CRRT capabilities Severe sepsis with hemodynamic instability and IV resuscitation General, vascular, or thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory or hemodynamic support including pharmacological vasopressor support Cardiac arrest requiring targeted temperature management Neuro – Medical cases (Stroke with or without Tenecteplase or traumatic fall with some neurosurgical intervention) DKA/HHNK – Insulin drips with Endotool titrations Telemetry monitoring with continuous rhythm interpretation (RN responsible for monitoring) Staffing and Support

RN to patient ratio: ICU level of care is 1:2; special high acuity 1:1 care for organ procurement or CRRT; overflow on stepdown/intermediate 1:3 to 1:4 depending on interventions CNA: varies; Nurse Tech support available Charge Nurse available as resource Support roles: CNA, Receptionist/HUC (day shift 8am-5:30pm), Phlebotomy (varies), IV/VAT Team: No, Resource Nurse: No (Charge Nurse serves as Resource) Rapid Response Team: Yes RT 24/7: Yes Hospitalist 24/7: Yes Intensivist 24/7: Yes Equipment: EMR EPIC, IV Pumps Baxter, Omnicell, Philips Intellivue monitors Unit equipment: CRRT-NxStage; Edwards Lifescience-Hemosphere/FloTrac; TTM Artic Sun Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation: 36 hours in week 1 including NTO and Online CBL 12-hour departmental orientation with RN Preceptor Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks Qualifications

Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills: Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, drips titration, ventilator care (Respiratory Therapist 24/7), vascular lines, chest tubes, post-procedure site care, CRRT, post-pulmonary artery thrombectomy (EKOS, Prenumbra, Inari) Additional Notes
