General medical patients requiring advanced hemodynamics and continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic and neurologic status Respiratory compromise or failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen devices, NIPPV or ventilator support Renal Failure with CRRT capabilities Severe Sepsis with hemodynamic instability and IV resuscitation General, Vascular, or thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory or hemodynamic support including pharmacological vasopressor support Cardiac arrest requiring targeted temperature management Neuro – Medical cases Stroke with or without TNK or Traumatic Fall with some neurosurgical intervention (EVD management or ICP monitoring) DKA/HHNK – Insulin drips with Endotool titrations Patient Ratios & Staffing
RN: ICU Level of care is 1:2; Special high acuity RN 1:1 care (organ procurement or CRRT); Overflow patients waiting on stepdown/intermediate RN to patient ratio is 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions CNA: Varies; Nurse Tech support Charge Nurse: typically available to resource and assist Licensure & Certifications
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS – Resource Team requirements Skills Required
Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, titration of drips, ventilator care (Respiratory Therapist available 24/7) Vascular lines, chest tubes, post procedure site care (transradial bands, femoral venous or arterial sheaths, CRRT) Post pulmonary artery thrombectomy (EKOS, Prenum. a, Inari) Department Support
CNA: Yes Receptionist/HUC: Varies – day shift only (8am-5:30pm) Charge nurse: Yes Phlebotomy: Varies IV/VAT Team: No Resource Nurse: No (Charge Nurse serves as Resource) Rapid Response Team: Yes RT 24/7: Yes Hospitalist 24/7: Yes Intensivist 24/7: Yes Telemetry monitoring: RN responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation Technology & Equipment

Orientation: 36 hours Week 1 (NTO and Online CBL Healthstream); 12-hour departmental orientation with RN Preceptor Scheduling: Weekend rotation every other; On call: None Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays RTO: Resource Team approval Shift Times: Days 0700-1930; Nights 1900-0730 Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks Other Notes
