Job Summary
Under general supervision, provide high‑level support to the teaching and research activities in the departments of Design and Cinema & Digital Media. Maintain and instruct users on equipment and oversee laboratories and facilities, acting as safety officer for the department. Assist faculty members with classroom needs applicable to the curriculum taught during the quarter. Supervise shop services student assistants, coordinate and schedule the use of the facilities. Funding for this position is available through June 30, 2025, with possibility of extension.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid California driver’s license to transport equipment and supplies.
Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, design environment, or related area, or equivalent experience/training.
Experience working with wood, metal, plastics, and other materials to fabricate, modify, and adapt equipment for instructional and research needs.
Experience with equipment such as fabric printers, laser cutters, 3D printers, sewing machines, CNC, cameras, and projectors.
Experience maintaining an inventory database of laboratory equipment and coordinating equipment purchases.
Experience organizing and implementing systems for equipment management and maintenance, including coordinating purchases and repair record keeping.
Experience handling and disposing of hazardous waste.
Skills to train and instruct users in policies, procedures, laboratory usage, and safe equipment use.
Ability to research and learn new skills as equipment changes, plus strong problem‑solving skills to assist students and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and/or education working in maker spaces, architecture, or construction environments.
Experience with current operating systems, environments, and communication protocols including Macintosh and PC Windows.
Experience and/or knowledge of dyes and screen‑printing processes.
Knowledge of campus laboratory safety regulations and procedures.
Knowledge of digital photographic systems.
